Intelligent, dark comedy has long been trademark of Dingle’s Beehive Theatre Co. productions. Their latest offering was no exception, but with the welcome addition of sexual overtones and outrageous farce. “ The Imposter” by Beehive playwright in residence, Mike Venner was part inspired by the story of Radovan Karadzic; one-time poet, politician, psychiatrist, property tycoon, indicted war criminal and fraudulent healer. According to Mike Venner, “We must believe such people are possible if we are to survive them”. The play is founded in paradox and the audience experienced the contradiction in its material – from bawdy comedy to philosophical reflection. There were some excellent performances from a cast who had the privilege of playing a host of smart, deranged characters. Clever direction by Wendela Rosenberg Polak reached a high point with the Madhouse drinking establishment tableaux.

This play had everything; goodness, badness, madness, sex, science, psychology, pathology, philosophy, politics and poetry. If you let pass this opportunity for great entertainment then certainly don’t miss Beehive’s impending summer show!
